ADA ASENJO
was born in the Dominican Republic. She immigrated as a child to the United States and learned to live in a new and different culture while maintaining familial customs and traditions. She has traveled to and lived in different parts of the world as a teacher of languages. Her love of flowers has led her to work in the realm of ephemeral materials and provoked philosophizing on the essence of Life, our place and purpose in the world, and how to act in order to live equitably. She is a self-taught artist and is always in learning mode. In 2022 she was awarded a grant by the Curate Inspire Purchase program of Louisville Visual Art and in collaboration with La Casita Center curated a permanent exhibit: Somos de Aquí y AFLORAMOS! (We are here and we FLOURISH!). Works from that exhibit were on display at the Speed Museum for Hispanic Heritage month in 2023. Look for upcoming exhibits in the years to come!
